"IT'S SATURDAY, IT'S TEVERSAL, IT'S ANOTHER DRAW!"

Teversal were treated to what life must be like at least two steps up the national pyramid by the wonderful support and officials that Scarborough have and surely had they not had six points deducted they would be serious promotion contenders. The draw in a game that Teversal showed they where more than a match for their much bigger host on the pitch, really puts any slight hope the Seadogs had of claiming the second promotion spot behind the newly crowned champions Dinnington.
The coastal wind blowing from one end of the ground to the other was certainly a interference to the game, but not a dominating factor. Credit must go to both sides for trying to play football and with the visitors having the wind behind them in the first half, they had the better possession but failed to capitalise on this.
To be honest with Blott and Hogg looking sharp up front for the Seadogs, they looked threatening on the break, with Wilson in the visitors goal only having the one save of any note from Blott midway through the first period. The Tevie Boys best effort came on 40 minutes when an excellent move saw Edwards with time to produce a telling cost that caused mayhem in the home box before the ball fell to Atkins who fired in at the near post with Bramley happy to parry out for a corner.
The second period saw Teversal defend stoutly and kept the home side at bay after putting on the pressure with the wind now to their advantage. The seadogs really should have took the lead on 56 minutes when a precise ball from Griffin sent Blott clear, but Wilson was quick off his line to make the striker take the effort early, but wide of the mark.
Then a series of corners by Morton was causing havoc with the first one having to be cleared off the line by Lyall. This period of pressure finally brought it’s rewards for the Seadogs, when on 61 minutes and excellent delivery from Milner from a free kick out on the Scarborough right invited Blott to head home from 12 yards to the delight of the vast majority of the 493 crowd.
Teversal however, found their advances forward where of better quality than the first due to the ball simply not being blown out of play and with Andy Woodcock being able to lead the line superbly. In fact some unselfish running by Woodcock created the opening for Townroe to produce a great ball into the path of Marc Scott to calmly fire past the advancing Bramley to level the score on 76 minutes.
Now having rode the quest of the wave of the Seadogs pressure, the Tevie Boys had a period of dominance that was rewarded by a superbly taken goal to take the lead on 84 minutes. The build up saw another advance broke up by the solid Tevie defence and worked the ball forward when Atkins held the ball up well before finding Hudson’s timely run with the midfielder chipping the ball over Bramley onto the head of Woodcock to head home to totally silence the crowd apart from the obvious delight of the travelling few from Carnarvon Street.
The joy was short lived though and only two minutes later, a goalmouth scramble saw the ball going goal wards only for a Teversal arm to get in the way, with the Referee having no option but to award the spot kick, With it unclear who’s arm it was the Referee couldn’t take any further action, but Phillips punished the visitors by clinically firing home the spot kick to make it 2-2.
The dying minutes were tense with both sides pushing for the winner, but it wasn’t to be and for the 11th time this season a draw was the order of the day for the Tevie Boys.
Teversal now travel to Hall Road Rangers in the Wilkinson Sword Trophy Final 2nd leg on Wednesday 2nd April, 7.45pm kick off and then entertain Hall Road Rangers at Carnarvon Street next weekend (05-04-08) with a 3.00pm kick off.
